The Software and Process Engineering Section at DTU Compute has a vacant full-time postdoc position for the duration of two years, starting 15th October or as soon as possible thereafter.

Research in the Software and Process Engineering Section is concerned with both the design and the evaluation of IT artefacts, ranging from conceptual models, methods, techniques, and tools used for the systematic engineering of software and processes as well as entire software systems. Our design-oriented research focuses on adaptive software systems, safety-critical systems and domain-driven software engineering. Our empirical research is concerned with the intersection of humans, tasks, and IT artefacts to ensure fitness for purpose.

The open postdoc position is part of the LiRA (Live Road Assessment) project funded by the Innovation Fund Denmark. The objective of the LiRA project is a system that collects data from the sensors of a fleet of cars and using these data for deriving the state of the roads pavements, so that road pavement surveys can be obtained in a cheaper and more timely way.

The vacant postdoc position is part of the work package “Production and Validation”, in which a web-/cloud-based system for end-users is developed which helps better plan and manage road maintenance tasks based on the obtained pavement surveys.

Responsibilities and tasks
Your tasks in this project will be soliciting the detailed requirements for a web-/cloud-based system for road assessment and maintenance as well as designing and developing this system in cooperation with the other project partners (from DTU and from industry) and managing the overall development process.

In particular, your tasks will be designing the overall architecture of the system, and you will be part of designing the interfaces to other systems. Moreover, your task will be to further the scientific ideas (design science) of this project and publish these results in collaboration with the project partners in scientific journals and events. In the context of this project, you might also be required to supervise and manage student programmers as well as bachelor and master theses.

The successful candidate must:

  • hold a PhD in the area of computer science related to software engineering,
  • have experience with designing web- and cloud-based systems handling big amounts of data,
  • have experience with managing software development processes, and
  • have good skills in oral communication and scientific writing (in English).

Further desired qualifications:

  • being able to actively listen and understand people from other domains;
  • being able to adjust and learn the terminology and language used in other domains;
  • foster productive discussions and be able to make the results into features of a software product.

In addition, we expect you to be interested in collaboration and to take personal responsibility for your work.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is a full-time position for the duration of two years. The starting date is 15th October 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter according to mutual agreement.

The workplace is mainly at the DTU Campus in Kgs. Lyngby, but it might be required during certain periods of time that the work is partially done at the sites of some project partner in the greater Copenhagen area.
