Research Scientist in Computational Protein Design

Novo Nordisk A/S

Ph.d. & forskning

Måløv, Capital Region of Denmark, DK

Are you interested in providing scientific impact within computational protein design? And do you like an international and challenging research environment, where you will actively work on identifying the next generation medicines and new therapeutic options that will change the life of patients with diabetes and other serious chronic diseases? Then you may be our next highly valued Research Scientist.

About the department

At Novo Nordisk you will work in the Modelling & Predictive Technologies Department, a part of the Structure, Bioinformatics and Data Science area, where you will collaborate closely with a number of other departments within Research. In the department, we are 15 highly engaged PhD scientists that apply both physics based and data driven modelling to projects in the Novo Nordisk research pipeline. We model active pharmaceutical ingredient (API) and drug product (DP) designs of our peptides and proteins. We apply explorative data analysis and machine learning to data generated across the organization. Further we generate predictive models to support prescriptive decision making in the projects. We use a broad range of molecular modelling tools including Rosetta, Maestro and MOE and data tools including JupyterLab, MatLab and software developed in house.

The Position

We offer an exciting and challenging job, where you will share and discuss computational models with highly experienced, qualified and motivated scientists in multidisciplinary research teams. The project teams work in a flexible, collaborative and cross-functional setting with very ambitious scientific goals. Your responsibility will be to provide structure based and data driven modelling and to contribute to our computational protein engineering efforts within API and DP design. Research activities will be focused on developing, implementing and using state-of-the-art structural modelling technologies to improve functional and biophysical properties. You will also engage with stakeholders across the international organization.

You hold a PhD within a computational structural biology discipline, such as Biophysics or Biochemistry, with more than 2+ years of pharmaceutical industry or biotech experience. You have a good track record and broad knowledge within applying structure-based design methods to drug discovery. In addition, experience within programming, statistical analysis, machine learning and cloud computing is preferred.

As a person you use your curiosity to secure that key structural challenges are identified. Your commitment and scientific insights are used to address the core issues and your communication skills enable you to present the results and thereby getting strong impact on project progress. You can collaborate well with people at all levels. Furthermore, you show a positive attitude towards challenges and thrive in an informal working environment. You take the initiative for driving your projects and you are able to stay on top of things in a dynamic working environment.

Working at Novo Nordisk

Your curiosity, skills, dedication and ambition will help us change lives of patients with diabetes and other chronic diseases for the better. In return, we offer you an opportunity to work in an extraordinarily stimulating scientific environment.
