Looking for a job with a purpose? DTU Biosustain is looking for a Laboratory technician that can help us drive our research and help us to the next level. We are looking for a highly motivated technician with extensive experience in operating and maintaining pilot-scale purification and separation equipment.

Broad lab responsibility across methods, projects, procedures, and equipment
The ideal candidate is knowledgeable about preparing, operating, taking samples and cleaning pilot-scale equipment, machinery and instrumentation. As a Pilot Plant Technician, your position requires collaboration with internal groups including fermentation and analytical staff, but also with external vendors, technology providers and engineering disciplines for process development.

Responsibilities and Tasks
Your mission is to assist Chemists and Engineers at our state-of-the-art lab at DTU Biosustain in Lyngby. This is done by setting up, operate, troubleshoot, maintain and clean pilot-scale equipment and setting up and conduct chemical and biochemical laboratory-scale experiments based on written protocols.

Furthermore you:

  • Gather samples for basic analytical equipment such as balances, pH, viscosity and density meters.
  • Document work in electronic lab books (ELN) and LIMS, analyze and interpret the results and discoveries.
  • Procure consumables and equipment.
  • Maintain a safe, clean, well-organized, and efficient laboratory work environment.
  • Work with safety regulators, vendors and technology providers.

Our expectations of you
You have a laboratory technician degree with relevant experience in the above-mentioned fields of responsibility and you have experience in working with downstream purification and separation of fermentation broth, such as disc-stack centrifugation, cross-flow filtration, ion-exchange chromatography, liquid-liquid solvent extraction, distillation, crystallization on laboratory and pilot-scale.

Furthermore, you have the mindset to share your knowledge and experience with other disciplines and initiative and self-motivated with good planning & organizational skills. On a personal level, you can follow, create and edit SOPs shows flexibility in schedule work outside standard hours as process’ occasionally demands and excellent collaboration & communication skills in English, as it is the common language in the center.

It would be great if…

  • You have hands-on experience with sample preparation for analysis, on for example HPLC.
  • You have experience with multiple microbial hosts and fermentation systems.
  • You have a strong interest in training on and learning new laboratory methods and pilot-scale equipment.
  • You have good computer skills.
  • You speak and write Danish fluently.

Salary and terms of employment
Your new workplace is the Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Biosustainability (CFB) at Building 220, Kemitorvet, 2800 Kgs. Lyngby, Denmark.

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement between the Union of Commercial and Clerical Employees in Denmark (HK) and laboratory technicians at DTU.
