In this role, you will be responsible for creating and driving the implementation of an offering (product/solution/service) strategy to align with and support the relevant business strategy. You will drive the allocation of resources across the portfolio of product lines, in collaboration with other relevant functions, to ensure each product line can execute its strategic plans. You will monitor the offering portfolio to ensure that a healthy mix and vitality are maintained for the long-term profitable growth of an offering. You will be responsible for supporting business results by overseeing each step in the offering lifecycle including development, launch, go-to-market, maintenance, pricing, and profitability.

Your responsibilities

  • Defines the go-to-market model and segment strategy and aligns it with the operational/execution path.
  • Contributes to defining the business strategy and translates it into the offering and solution portfolio strategy.
  • Oversees the footprint, technology transfer, and trading model strategy definition to optimize the time to market, sales enablement, customer service levels, and product profitability.
  • Leads the market intelligence analysis, including information gathering from competition (Competitor inelegance)
  • Identifies potential gaps in the portfolio, with respect to the competition and new market opportunity(ies).
  • Owns the technical and market specifications for the offering and determines an offering business plan that supports sustainable growth.
  • Proposes and directly involves in Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A) partnership activities, defining the brand, offering portfolio, and related business strategy.
  • Defines and updates value proposition and customer benefits for the portfolio.
  • Supports sales with profitability and margin of the offering.
  • Supports the annual business planning process and facilitates agreement between sales demand and supply.
  • Tracks key financial KPIs such as OR, REV, Margin as well as market share
  • Improves the competitive position of portfolio elements by optimizing the cost position
  • Ensures that correct pricing is applied for all countries within the relevant business area.
  • Develops and maintains a global reference price list appropriate to both ABB internal offering positioning strategy and competitor offerings and ensures that it is developed and deployed in line with the needs of individual markets.
  • Develops product management processes and tools continuously, including interfaces to other key functions and develops sales and tendering tools to support the Sales organization.
  • Drives the preparation of all technical sales information e.g. “battle card”
  • Initiates the creation of external and internal product training modules and programs.
  • Initiates and drives cross-functional and cross-organizational product and solution innovation teams and monitors the development of all standards and market trends and provides inputs to R&D team for patent screening process and intellectual property rights protection.

Your background

  • Must have 10+ years of Metals Industry experience.
  • Product Management background will be advantageous.
  • Engineering degree
