Junior Engineer for Electrical Characterization at the NNF Quantum Computing Programme

The Novo Nordisk Foundation Quantum Computing Programme (NQCP) is establishing a talented and diverse international team to create a cutting-edge quantum programme in the heart of Copenhagen, Denmark. At the Niels Bohr Institute, University of Copenhagen, where the formulation of Quantum Mechanics was born 100 years ago, we aim to establish an international quantum computing programme, funded by the Novo Nordisk Foundation, that will drive research and innovations at multiple levels - from developing scalable quantum processor technologies to solutions for the quantum-classical control and readout interface, and all the way to quantum algorithms and applications. The long-term mission of the programme is todevelop fault-tolerant quantum computing hardware and quantum algorithms that solve life-science-relevant chemical and biological problems.

NQCP is looking for a junior engineer to support our efforts on electrical characterization of our various novel materials and components. You will be working with multiple tools, preparing, executing and analyzing measurements from room temperature all the way to milli kelvin. Measurements are done using characterization protocols to reliably and precisely extract relevant metrics. This will be done in close collaboration with the materials growth, fabrication, and Theory & Simulation teams as well as various international partners from industry and academia.

Qualifications
The successful candidate will have some of the following qualifications:

  • Masters degree in physics, engineering, materials science or related
  • Prior exposure to some of the following techniques: bonding, wafer probing, Impedance-, CV-, Kelvin resistance-, and differential conductance measurements.
  • Experience with process engineering concepts, automation and data logging – preferably python.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work structured in a dynamic research program.

Terms of salary and employment
The employment and salary are made in accordance with the Circular on the Collective Agreement concerning academics in the state sector concluded between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).

The employment will be as an academic employee or special consultant and the salary is based on seniority. Negotiation for salary supplement is possible. The working time are 37 hours per week on average. The working hours are flexible. The position is limited to 2 years from the date of employment.

Appointment will be subject to receipt of a security clearance.
