Carbon Capture Business and Regulatory Graduate

Ørsted

The Ørsted Global Graduate Programme is designed to unleash your potential. We offer you an intense two-year developmental journey where you’ll learn from experts within your field and get diverse project experience, develop transferable skills, and build a strong cross-functional network with other talents.

The graduate journey
Our Global Graduate Programme consists of three rotations, where you’ll solve business challenges, take responsibility for your own assignments, and engage in our day-to-day business decisions.

You’ll work on carbon capture and storage (CCS) projects and play an important role in maturing the voluntary carbon market into an international business and in Ørsted meeting climate impact mitigations at EU, national, and Group level. You’ll work across three passionate and skilled teams and gain hands-on experience on what it takes to build a new business area; from business development and external partner negotiations to policy and framework development at EU and national state levels. Your rotations will be in the following areas: 1. Carbon capture & storage project development, i.e. securing offtake agreements for projects. 2. Regulatory development to enable new business development, i.e. national and EU policy work, influencing voluntary guidance and rules. 3. Developing certification schemes for our nature-based carbon projects in Gambia and Indonesia, and ensuring alignment with Ørsted’s Science Based Target Initiative commitments.

You’ll play an important role in:

  • supporting the preparation and negotiation of commercial agreements
  • participating in carbon capture business development and business case development on concrete projects
  • gaining unique business, market and regulatory understanding through conducting market analyses, communicating key findings, and developing next steps
  • analysing government policies and regulations while working with the business and the Carbon Capture project team to develop our positions on the voluntary carbon market
  • supporting our engagement with key external stakeholders and partners, incl. business collaboration prospects and partners, government officials, ministers, and think tanks.

To succeed in this role, you:

  • have completed your master's degree in economics, political science, civil engineering, or a related field before 1 September 2025
  • have a maximum of one year of full-time, relevant work experience between your master's completion and 1 September 2025
  • have a strong analytical and structured approach that enables you to handle a range of complex tasks, a high learning agility, and a collaborative mindset with an eagerness to explore
  • are keen to challenge and develop your talent by working with tasks from different angles
  • are dynamic and have a strong sense of drive and can communicate clearly, both verbally and in writing
  • have strong communication skills and are fluent in both spoken and written English.

Maybe you’ve read the above and can see you have some transferable skills, even though they don’t quite match all the points. If you think you can bring something to the team, we still encourage you to apply.
