A position as professor or clinical professor and program leader for diabetes care and patient and public involvement in research is vacant at the Department of Clinical Research, Faculty of Health Sciences, University of Southern Denmark, and the Steno Diabetes Center Odense (SDCO), Odense University Hospital (OUH). The position as professor or clinical professor will be combined with a clinical position at SDCOs. Allocation of time between the professorship and the clinical position is 50%/50%. The posts are considered as one entity.

The position is for a 5-year period with possibility of extension.

Research Unit of Steno Diabetes Center Odense (SDCO)
The Steno Diabetes Center Odense (SDCO) is created in collaboration between the Region of Southern Denmark and the Novo Nordisk Foundation (https://sdco.dk/om-os/baggrund-og-vision) and located at Odense University Hospital. The professor or clinical professor will refer to the Head of Research at SDCO, Professor Kurt Højlund, and will be a member of SDCO's research council.

The professor must have a strong record in the field of diabetes care and technology and patient and public involvement in research. The professor will be expected to initiate clinically relevant studies in these areas of diabetes research and will be responsible for the implementation of patient and public involvement in research at SDCO. The professor must be qualified within the field of diabetes and patient care and patient and public involvement in research.

SDCO comprises an array of research programs each run by a program leader, and the new professor or clinical professor will be one of the program leaders. See about the Research Unit of SDCO at: https://www.sdu.dk/en/forskning/research-unit-of-sdco/about.

The program leaders refer to the Head of Research. Initially, salary for at least one position as PhD student and/or post-doc will be made available for the new professor or clinical professor.

It will be expected that the professor or clinical professor ensures that SDCO attracts substantial research funding from external sources in relation to the research program.

Salary and terms of employment
The successful applicant for the professor or clinical professor position will be employed in accordance with the agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
