Together with our colleagues in other R&D centers we develop technologies for future products and services for ABB's core businesses. The goal is to bridge the gap between control system design and real-world industrial implementation, addressing both requirements and limitations. This should be evaluated not only from the process perspective but also from the industrial control platform's feasibility, considering challenges such as cost, communication, computational demands, and engineering effort. A prototype industrial process with sufficient nonlinearity and complexity, integrated with an industrial control platform, can be used to test and refine advanced control solutions.
