Funded traineeships for young graduates at the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe, Strasbourg - PPI and Legal Section

Text Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in the Council of Europe?

We offer:
Traineeships of 5 months within the following sections of the EU Delegation to the Council of Europe, starting in February/ March 2025, subject to budget availability.

  • Traineeship in the Political, Press and Information Section (PPI):

Main tasks:

  • Following key dossiers of the Committee of Ministers, the Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), relevant Rapporteur Groups and expert groups;
  • Participating in the Committee of Ministers meetings, PACE sessions, Congress of Local and Regional Authorities sessions, rapporteur groups and expert groups meetings, preparing summaries and reporting;
  • Updating EUDEL website and social media (Facebook, X, LinkedIn, Instagram);
  • Drafting, proof-reading, and editing documents and articles, including for a public audience and social media;
  • Compiling a daily press review and a monthly newsletter;
  • Reporting on conferences, seminars and delegation meetings;
  • Research and preparation of documents and notes;
  • Drafting briefings;
  • Contributing to the preparation and organisation of visibility and communication of EU events; assisting in the promotion as such events (producing advertisements, press releases, designing and distributing of promotional materials, making photo and video coverage of EUDEL's events);
  • Follow up and supporting the organisation in the daily management of EUDEL activities (events, receptions, working lunches, meetings, logistic including documents preparation).
  • Traineeship in the Legal Section (LEGAL):

Main tasks:

  • Follow key dossiers of the Committee of Ministers, the Parliamentary Assembly (PACE), relevant Rapporteur Groups and expert groups;
  • Participate in the Committee of Ministers meetings, rapporteur groups and expert groups meetings, preparing summaries and reporting;
  • Follow the jurisprudence and other activities of the ECtHR, the reform of the ECtHR, the co-operation between ECtHR and Court of Justice of European Union (CJEU), and the EU accession to the ECHR and other CoE Conventions;
  • Drafting meeting minutes, speaking points, briefings and notes;
  • Researching and preparing documents and notes;
  • Drafting, proof-reading and editing documents;
  • Providing support in the daily management of EUDEL activities (events, receptions, working lunches, meetings, logistic, etc.).

We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Master's degree in Political Sciences, international relations or communication for the PPI section, master's degree in international or EU and/or human rights law for the Legal Section;
  • Ability and willingness to work in an international environment;
  • Very good organisational skills and ability to deliver good quality work output;
  • Very good analytical and drafting skills;
  • Proficiency in both English (C2) and French (C1);
  • Proactivity, ability to work in a team as well as independently;
  • Computer literacy with practical experience in Microsoft packages and social media.

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. As an indication, 2024 monthly grants are published here. These amounts may be revised for traineeships starting in 2025. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
