Apply and develop your technical skills and be part of the innovative GlacioLab working on electronics and mechanics at GEUS, Øster Voldgade 10, Copenhagen.

About the position
GlacioLab is a scientific research laboratory inside GEUS, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, specializing in designing, assembling, and repairing special electronic equipment for studying ice in Greenland. Made up of a group of three technicians/engineers, GlacioLab works closely with climate scientists to get the specific measurements they need from the Arctic.

Who are you?
You are an open-minded person, maybe 1-2 years into your studies, interested in electronics and ready to engage in different activities such as assembling/building Automatic Weather Stations, packing and assisting with shipments to the Arctic, alongside

  • Production of GEUS´s own developed sensors, including mechanical assembly, soldering, working with programming and debug, testing and quality control
  • Updating documentation, schematics, diagrams, databases
  • Other work arounds related to the GlacioLab group.

We are your new colleagues
We are an enthusiastic and international department with tasks such as

  • Monitoring the mass loss of the Greenland Ice Sheet
  • Research projects on glaciers and ice sheets in Greenland
  • Advisory projects related to hydropower in Greenland.

The Glaciology and Climate department consists of 30 people, including PhD-students, project staff, postdocs, senior researchers, professors, engineers, and emeritus researchers. We span more than 15 nationalities, and our daily working language is English.

Salary and terms of employment
You will be employed as a student assistant for up to 10 hours/week with great flexibility in connection with e.g. examination periods.

Salary and terms of employment are in accordance with the relevant trade union agreement.

The appointment area is the Ministry of Climate, Energy and Utilities and its institutions.
