Sr. Engineer, Front End - LogScale (Hybrid, DNK)
CrowdStrike
As a global leader in cybersecurity, CrowdStrike protects the people, processes and technologies that drive modern organizations. Since 2011, our mission hasn’t changed — we’re here to stop breaches, and we’ve redefined modern security with the world’s most advanced AI-native platform. We work on large scale distributed systems, processing almost 3 trillion events per day. We have 3.44 PB of RAM deployed across our fleet of C* servers - and this traffic is growing daily. Our customers span all industries, and they count on CrowdStrike to keep their businesses running, their communities safe and their lives moving forward. We’re also a mission-driven company. We cultivate an inclusive culture that gives every CrowdStriker both the flexibility and autonomy to own their careers. We’re always looking to add talented CrowdStrikers to the team who have limitless passion, a relentless focus on innovation and a fanatical commitment to our customers, our community and each other. Ready to join a mission that matters? The future of cybersecurity starts with you.
About the Role:
LogScale is a CrowdStrike product for observability and log management to get insights into the truly massive amounts of log-events from software deployment, IT-services, IT-operations, and security. When you join CrowdStrike you’ll be part of an exciting and fast growing company with a healthy culture. We are customer focused, value trust, take action, and deliver quality. In the LogScale business unit in particular we embrace the Danish concept hygge throughout.
We are hiring for a Senior Engineer - Front End. In this role, you will contribute to the LogScale web-based application for observability, log management, and security events. You’ll be making decisions on how to implement and deliver larger open-ended features. In particular, you’ll work on our UI, Dashboards, and Data Visualization. You’ll work closely with the colleagues in your team where you will be mentoring junior engineers and contributing with expert domain knowledge to colleagues across the broader CrowdStrike organisation
Teams in LogScale have a great amount of autonomy, and own a part of the LogScale experience, from ideation and development to deployment and feedback. This includes ensuring high quality of the features they deliver, by writing automated tests, and performing manual tests. Moreover, we do not just throw over features to our operations teams, but we constantly observe and monitor new features in production, with LogScale dashboards of course.
We expect you to first and foremost develop the frontend, so you should be fluent in web standards like HTML and CSS and to have experience with frontend software development. Our web application is developed in Elm, an exciting functional language for building reliable and high performance web applications. We don’t expect you to be proficient in Elm, and there will be room to learn Elm as you build on your expertise in web development frameworks like React, Ember or Angular - and languages like JavaScript and TypeScript. Our UI utilises Tailwind CSS for styling and Vega for visualization specification. We expect you to have experience utilizing similar libraries for visualization like D3, Highcharts, or similar.
We believe it's important to inspire, support, and enable one another, so we've chosen a diverse group of talented, compassionate, and fun people to work with. The work is challenging, but you get the possibility to create your everyday work life. With us you have great flexibility to prioritize off-work commitments. We’ve found this to be the perfect mix, so if you see yourself as a great match, we’d love nothing more than for you to join us. We strongly encourage diversion, ownership and commitment from the employees in every team, and your inputs are always welcome. In general, you will experience a trusting culture throughout - from top to bottom.
Please Note: Candidates who apply and are successful must be located within the Jylland/Jutland area to ensure an accessible commute into our Aarhus Office.
What You’ll Do:
- Develop our web application in Elm, TypeScript, GraphQL and TailwindCSS.
- Extend our collection of visualization widgets.
- Scope requirements with stakeholders.
- Work closely with friendly, trustworthy and knowledgeable UX/UI designers and software development colleagues both in person and remotely in North America and Europe.
- Monitor and followup on features released to customers on-prem and on cloud.
- Build on your understanding of HTML, CSS and JavaScript.
- Write performant, robust and testable code.
- Develop a world class UI to explore big data.
- Do best practices in software development; code review, automated tests, and incremental improvements.
What You'll Need:
- An MSc in Computer Science, IT engineering or similar relevant experience.
- 8+ years experience in developing web applications.
- Experience in software development in general and the ability to juggle making pragmatic tradeoffs between short-time delivery needs vs long-term product goals.
- Experience in contributing to broad technical leadership in products or services.
- A can-do attitude, and that you thrive collaborating in a team and are not afraid of taking on responsibilities.
