The position is 30 hours per week and will be available from 1st May or as soon as possible thereafter.

Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Technical Specialist in Soil Spectroscopy to join our skilled team. The ideal candidate will have advanced knowledge in spectroscopic techniques, particularly Vis-NIR (Visible-Near Infrared), FTIR (Fourier Transform Infrared), and LIBS (Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy).

This position offers a special opportunity to work at the intersection of cutting-edge research and practical application, contributing to important projects in soil science while supporting the next generation of researchers.

Key Responsibilities
Spectroscopy Laboratory Management:

  • Operate, maintain, and optimize Vis-NIR, FTIR, and LIBS spectroscopy instruments for soil analysis.
  • Develop and implement new methods, calibration models, and workflows for accurate soil characterization.
  • Analyze and interpret spectral data to derive technical insights for research and applications.

Technical Support for Research and Projects:

  • Support the implementation of soil spectroscopy techniques in various projects, ensuring high technical standards.
  • Provide technical input to interdisciplinary research teams, ensuring the accurate application of spectroscopy in soil science. Support the preparation of scientific publications, prepare technical reports, and presentations based on spectroscopy data.

Training and Technical Guidance:

  • Mentor and CO-supervise students in the technical aspects of soil spectroscopy, offering guidance on experimental design and data analysis.
  • Provide applied training and workshops for students, technicians and researchers in spectroscopy techniques.

Collaboration and Outreach:

  • Engage with academic, industrial, and governmental stakeholders to promote the application of soil spectroscopy.
  • Represent the organization at conferences, workshops, and industry events.

Requirements

  • A PhD degree in Soil Science, Environmental Science, Chemistry, Physics, or a related field.
  • Documeted experience with Vis-NIR, FTIR, and LIBS spectroscopy, including data analysis and interpretation.
  • Solid background in soil spectroscopy applications and calibration model development.
  • Experience in research projects, with a consistent ability to publish in peer-reviewed journals.
  • Prior experience with supervising or mentoring students would be beneficial.
  • High organizational skills, with the ability to coordinate multiple tasks and priorities efficiently.
  • Service-minded attitude, willingness to adjust, and a collaborative approach to working in a team.

Formalities and salary range
Salary and terms as agreed between the Danish Ministry of Taxation and the Confederation of Professional Unions.
The position is covered by the terms of collective agreements for academic staff in state institutions depending on qualifications and experience.
