Do you have experience in shipping and logistics, and thrive in a fast-paced environment focused on coordination and service?
If so, you might be the Shipping Coordinator we are looking for to join our newly established Central Distribution Center (CDC) team in Houston, Texas.
About the Position
As a Shipping Coordinator, you will play a crucial role in maintaining our Best in Class status and ensuring smooth delivery operations.
Based in Houston, Texas, you will be part of the Global Logistics & Sourcing team and report to the Logistics Manager.
Primary Tasks Include:
- Participating in and supporting the tender process for road, air, and courier shipments
- Tracking carrier performance
- Performing request for quote activities on outbound freight and assigning shipments based on customer needs and price
- Tracking inbound shipments in cooperation with the VIKING procurement department
- Ensuring inbound planning, including updates in SAP and coordination with external warehouses
- Providing proper shipping documents to external and internal customers
- Performing intercompany billing
- Tracking outbound shipments to verify successful goods issuance
- Verifying freight invoices and approving them
- Ensuring correct export documentation is created and distributed
- Supporting coordination of inbound and outbound shipments, both domestic and international
- Acting as a point of contact for logistics inquiries, including tracking shipments, inventory, and customer complaints, and escalating as needed
- Coordinating Houston area shuttles of material between VIKING and third-party storage sites
We will ensure you receive thorough training to meet the needs of the position.
Your Entry into the Position
The ideal candidate is familiar with shipping and logistics systems and has experience in a similar role. While a background in shipping, freight forwarding, or logistics is preferred, experience is prioritized over education.
You are a team player with professional curiosity and thrive in an active environment where you can maintain focus on both tasks and deadlines.
Additionally, you should have:
- Experience in freight forwarding, both domestic and international
- Experience with shipments to South America
- Proficiency in handling road, air, and courier shipments
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) is required
- Experience with SAP is preferred
