Public‑Private Partnerships, Novo Nordisk
Søborg, Denmark
Do you have a passion for working at the interface between the pharmaceutical industry, academia and other external partners? Do you want to be part of establishing new gold standards for clinical trials in rare and ultra‑rare diseases? Then join us to lead knowledge transfer and knowledge mobilisation by co‑creating and validating the RealiseD “playbooks”—turning advanced methods into practical, FAIR‑aligned workflows, templates, decision tools and modules. This PostDoc is a 2-year temporary position.

Your new role
We are seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Researcher to join an international public‑private consortium (RealiseD). RealiseD unites nearly 40 partners from academia, regulatory bodies, clinical research institutes and hospitals, patient organisations, pharmaceutical companies and European Research Infrastructures to establish new gold standards for clinical trials in rare and ultra‑rare diseases.

In close collaboration with academic partners in the consortium, you will:

  • Support the development of the RealiseD playbooks by providing leadership to ensure knowledge transfer and knowledge mobilisation drawing on technical insight and practical experience in clinical trials.
  • Organise and structure content, participate in co‑creation and consensus‑building activities, and contribute to the design and validation of workflows, decision trees and advanced methodological tools relevant for clinical trials in ultra‑rare diseases.
  • Translate complex methodological outputs into accessible, structured modules aligned with the playbook workflow (problem definition, parameter identification, assumptions and constraints, solution building and assessment).
  • Support mapping of gaps and organisation of resources and tools relevant to clinical trial design in ultra‑rare diseases, including outputs from WP1–8 and external initiatives.
  • Contribute to quality assurance, content validation, technical testing, iterative refinement, data management planning and long‑term sustainability of the RealiseD playbooks and virtual platform.

Your new department
The Public‑Private Partnerships (PPP) team at Novo Nordisk leads large and complex international science‑driven projects across the company, many supported through the Innovative Health Initiative (IHI). We facilitate evidence generation and innovation in public and private partnerships at scale to enable systemic change that cannot be achieved alone, aspiring toward fundamental improvements in how diseases are understood and treated for the benefit of patients and society.

Your skills and qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who brings strong methodological expertise and a collaborative mindset. You have:

  • A PhD or equivalent postdoctoral experience in biostatistics, clinical trial methodology, epidemiology, biomedical data science, pharmacometrics or a related quantitative discipline.
  • Demonstrated expertise in innovative clinical trial design, including application in rare or ultra‑rare disease contexts.
  • Strong technical skills in simulation, modelling and methodological tool development (e.g. R, Python or specialised design software).
  • Familiarity with regulatory expectations for innovative designs and experience in multi‑stakeholder clinical research environments.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to explain complex methodological concepts to experts and non‑experts in a user‑friendly manner.
