The Department of Biomedicine at Faculty of Health at Aarhus University invites applications for a position as Data Manager and Information Security Coordinator as per 1 October 2026. The position is a permanent full-time position.

The research team you will be part of conducts genetic epidemiological studies of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions based a large population sample as well as large international data collections. We are seeking a new colleague to help collate, manage, and analyse data from the Danish registers. If you have a master’s degree or a Ph.D. in bioinformatics, computer science, statistics or similar and you have a fondness for data, as well as a deep understanding of Danish and EU laws and regulations on data protection and privacy, you may be the colleague we are looking for.

Your job responsibilities
The position is two-pronged: One half is a member of the research group of Professor Jakob Grove serving as data manager and analyst taking part in our work regarding the genetic epidemiology of psychiatric and neurodevelopmental conditions. The other half is serving as Information Security Coordinator for all of Department of Biomedicine.

As analyst and data manager, you will be responsible for obtaining access to, organizing, merging, and preparing data from the Danish registries for studies using genetic, environmental, sociodemographic and health data on the Danish population. You will be curating data sets and preparing data for analyses of large health-related registry and genomics data sets on both the GenomeDK supercomputer and Statistics Denmark. Further, you will be working with the researchers helping to run analyses on the prepared data sets.

As the Local Information Security Coordinator (LISC) you will support the implementation and maintenance of the department’s Information Security Management System. The LISC will work closely with the department management team to ensure compliance with Aarhus University’s information security policies, GDPR, and relevant procedures.
The role includes coordinating risk assessments, supporting incident handling, contributing to local guidelines, promoting security awareness among staff and students, and acting as the link between the department, central information security functions, IT support, and other relevant stakeholders. The LISC will also support research groups and core facilities in identifying secure and practical IT and data storage solutions.

You will report to the Head of Secretariat Morten Uhre Pless regarding the LISC responsibilities and Professor Jakob Grove regarding the tasks as Data Manager.

Your competences
The successful candidate will have most, if not all, of the following competencies:

• Experienced in programming bash, SAS, R and/or python
• Experience with management and curation of large data sets and with high performance computing
• Experience doing statistical analyses of large data sets, including analyses of large pedigrees, genetic data such as SNP array data as well as with Danish registries
• Experience producing publication-quality results, figures, and tables
• Knowledge of data security and Danish and EU regulations concerning privacy and data security.
• Experience with information security coordination at large institutions in research and higher education

Moreover, we expect you to have good communication skills, have a team-oriented, collaborative spirit and able to contribute to a good work environment.

We expext you to be fluent in oral and written English.

You must be able to work independently, including having strong trouble-shooting skills and adherence to timelines, Keep good records of your work (e.g., maintain well-annotated program files) consistent with strong open science practices and Learn and apply new analytic skills and share what you know with your work colleagues.
