DTU Tenure Track Researcher in Radiation Detectors and Systems - DTU Space

Danmarks Tekniske Universitet

At DTU Space, you will develop radiation detectors and detector systems for space and applied science. You will join our detector group working on semiconductor detectors, readout electronics, modelling and intelligent signal processing. You will build your own research profile while contributing to ongoing projects, teaching and supervision.

Responsibilities and qualifications
Your focus will be to strengthen detector research, systems development and data processing, in collaboration with colleagues and partners in Denmark and abroad.

Your primary tasks will be to:

  • Develop detector research, readout and data-processing methods.
  • Contribute to existing projects through design, simulation, laboratory characterization and performance evaluation.
  • Work with semiconductor detector technologies for high-resolution X-ray and gamma-ray detection.
  • Apply Geant4 modelling and machine-learning-assisted signal processing.
  • Publish, attract external funding and build academic and industrial collaborations.
  • Teach and supervise BSc, MSc and PhD students in detector physics, instrumentation, electronics and data analysis.

We expect you to have:

  • PhD in detector physics, instrumentation, electronics, signal processing or a related field.
  • Research experience in radiation detectors, detector systems or instrumentation.
  • Experience with experimental work, modelling and data analysis.
  • Strong publication record relative to career stage and a clear tenure-track research vision.
  • Motivation for teaching, supervision and interdisciplinary collaboration.

Experience with FPGA/ASIC readout, Geant4 simulation, machine learning for detector signals or space instrumentation is an advantage.

DTU Space works across space science, space technology, Earth observation and related instrumentation. Our detector activities support missions where radiation measurements, high-resolution detector systems, readout electronics, modelling and data analysis are central.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The position is part of DTU’s Tenure Track program. Read more about the program and the recruitment process here.
