Statistician for the Department of Statistics and Data Analysis to support the research groups
The Danish Cancer Institute, part of the Danish Cancer Society (Kræftens Bekæmpelse), is an international research environment comprising 21 research groups within biology and epidemiology. The Department of Statistics and Data Analysis is seeking a statistician to provide statistical support to the institute’s research groups.
About the position
You will be part of the research support function, working closely with colleagues and collaborating with several research groups at the Danish Cancer Institute, primarily within epidemiological cancer research. We are seeking a candidate who thrives on interdisciplinary collaboration, can handle multiple projects simultaneously, has experience with or a strong interest in applying statistical methods in health research, has solid experience in programming in R, and preferably has experience working with Danish health and population registries.
In your daily work, you will guide and support researchers in the planning and design of studies, perform and interpret statistical analyses, participate in the preparation of scientific articles, and contribute to further strengthening the department’s professional competencies.
Depending on your qualifications and experience, the appointment will be made either as a statistician or senior statistician.
Qualifications
We are seeking a statistician with a strong theoretical background in statistics.
- You hold a master’s degree in mathematics, statistics, engineering or a related quantitative field
- A PhD degree is an advantage, but not a requirement
- You have advanced proficiency in R
- You have strong writing and communication skills in English
- You are capable of managing multiple projects concurrently
- You are enthusiastic about engaging in interdisciplinary research
- You are committed to ongoing learning and applying recent statistical methods in practice
We offer

Working hours are 37 hours/week including lunch.
You will receive salary and pension in accordance with the current agreement between the Danish Cancer Society and the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations (Akademikerne).
You will be based at Strandboulevarden 49, Copenhagen Ø, where we offer a staff canteen, fruit scheme, active sports and art association, and physiotherapy services. Our working hours are smoke-free.
