Cloud Engineer, R&D
GN Store Nord A/S
The GNOS Cloud Engineer is part of GN’s R&D organization and designs, builds, and operates cloud-native services for the GNOS platform — a core foundation for our fitting software and patient-facing solutions in the US and globally.
In this role, you will work closely with product management, architects, and application teams to build secure, scalable cloud services that help hearing care professionals, partners, and end users configure, fit, and manage GN hearing solutions. You will collaborate across R&D teams in the US, Denmark, Poland, and India to ensure GNOS services are robust, observable, and easy for downstream applications to consume.
Your contribution is appreciated, and you will:
- Develop cloud-native backend services and APIs for GNOS that support GN’s hearing products and R&D roadmap.
- Translate product requirements and system designs into maintainable cloud solutions with clear interfaces and versioned contracts.
- Contribute to a modular platform architecture that can be reused across product lines, markets, and channels.
- Support infrastructure-as-code and deployment patterns for GNOS services in Microsoft Azure.
- Help build resilient, observable services with logging, tracing, metrics, and alerts aligned to platform SLAs/SLOs.
- Participate in operational support and incident analysis, using insights from results and incidents to improve design and development.
- Apply secure coding and privacy-aware design in line with GN’s R&D quality system and relevant standards.
- Work closely with test engineers to ensure thorough unit, integration, contract, and performance test coverage.
- Support early defect discovery through CI/CD, static analysis, security checks, and testable service and API design.
- Work in agile, cross-functional R&D teams with engineers, testers, product owners, UX, and architects.
- Contribute to backlog refinement, estimation, and technical design discussions.
- Collaborate with client application teams to ensure GNOS services meet both functional and non-functional needs.
- Help reduce technical debt and improve reliability, performance, observability, and developer experience.
- Stay current on relevant cloud, platform, and health-tech trends and bring useful ideas into the roadmap.
To perform well in the role, we imagine that you bring:
- A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience developing backend or platform services in production environments.
- Experience with at least one major cloud platform, such as Microsoft Azure.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as C#/.NET, Java, or Node.js/TypeScript.
- Experience designing and implementing RESTful APIs.
- Practical experience with CI/CD, automated testing, and Git-based workflows.
- Focus on reliability, maintainability, and security in solution design and implementation.
- Experience with Azure services such as App Service, AKS, Azure Functions, API Management, Azure SQL/Cosmos DB, and Service Bus/Event Grid.
- Experience with event-driven architectures or microservices.
- Familiarity with regulated environments such as medical devices or health tech, or understanding of privacy and data protection requirements.
- Experience with observability tools such as Application Insights, Prometheus/Grafana, or OpenTelemetry.
- Familiarity with GitHub Actions, GitHub security features, and GitHub Copilot.
- Ability to evaluate technical results and translate those insights into clear next steps.
- Open mind and curiosity to accept other's solutions
