Temporary Position: Development Scientist
API MSAT Process Support – Bagsværd
Are you passionate about protein chemistry and industrial recovery processes? Do you want to play a key role in late-stage development and provide scientific support for industrial-scale API recovery? This is a 14-month temporary position and your opportunity to join Novo Nordisk and contribute to delivering life-changing medicines.

Your new role
As Development Scientist in API MSAT Process Support, you will become part of the Fermentation & Recovery Support Team, where you will support API manufacturing and drive optimisation of recovery processes on a yeast platform.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Optimisation and troubleshooting of API recovery processes to ensure robustness and scalability
  • Scientific support to production facilities, including root cause analysis and problem solving
  • Planning, execution, and evaluation of laboratory and pilot-scale experiments
  • Preparation of protocols, technical reports, and development documentation
  • Collaboration with stakeholders across development, QA, Regulatory Affairs, production sites, and external partners

The position is based in Bagsværd, with close collaboration and support to manufacturing sites in Kalundborg and Clayton (USA). You should expect travel to Kalundborg 1–3 days per month and occasional international travel.

Your new department
You will join API MSAT Process Support, part of Novo Nordisk’s CMC & Product Supply organisation, covering the full value chain from drug development to marketed products. With more than 30,000 colleagues globally, we are responsible for scaling processes and ensuring a stable supply of high-quality medicines to patients.

Within API MSAT Process Support, you will be part of a highly skilled team operating at the interface between R&D and full-scale manufacturing. The department focuses on process understanding, implementation, and optimisation, working closely across functions to support late-stage development and commercial production. The area consists of approximately 130 employees across eight teams in Bagsværd and Gentofte, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.

Your skills and qualifications
We are looking for a candidate who combines strong scientific capabilities with a structured and solution-oriented mindset.

To succeed in this role, you have:

  • An MSc or engineering degree in chemistry, pharmacy, or a related discipline
  • Experience with protein recovery, purification, or separation techniques such as filtration, chromatography, or precipitation
  • Solid understanding of chemical processes, ideally within pharmaceutical production or development
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills, enabling you to work effectively across stakeholders
  • A proactive and independent approach, with the ability to navigate complex and dynamic environments

Experience with programming or data modelling is considered an advantage but is not required.
