NKT is currently expanding our installation engineering team and offers a unique opportunity to join one of the leading suppliers of the largest and most complex cable projects worldwide.

The engineers are deployed in project teams that are responsible for the preparation of complex projects from start to finish together with other departments and functions across NKT business.

The position is based out of Karlskrona.

Supporting the project with mechanical design
In this role you will be working as part of a project team where you will be responsible for supporting the project with mechanical design of various equipment, tools and site lay-outs. A lot of the tools and equipment designed will also be fabricated and in this role you will be involved in following up on the fabrication with various suppliers.

Together with internal stakeholders, clients and subcontractors you will work towards land installation sites and offshore platforms. Hence it will be important to develop an understanding of the considerations required when working with the different sites and the fundamental aspects of installing cables at the sites.

Your daily tasks involve collaborating closely with different site managers and installation engineers. You utilize their feedback, project specifications, and applicable standards to design equipment and layouts, as well as create the necessary drawings and technical documentation.

In this role you will travel to site to make sure the design is implemented as intended in collaboration with NKT site managers and subcontractors. You will also travel to suppliers to follow up on FATs, fit up tests etc.

Motivated Engineer with experience from mechanical design
NKT is looking for a motivated person that can take ownership of their work and deliver a high-quality result according to agreed deadlines. To succeed in the role, you have a hands-on mindset and a structured way of working when building and developing models and drawings. In additional you have good understanding of how to interpret relevant standards and how design decision effects the fabrication process.

Your CV includes:

• An engineering degree with +3 year experience from mechanical design works.
• Highly skilled in working in SolidWorks. Skills with AutoCad or Sketchup is also seen as a merit.
• Basic understanding of structural aspects when modelling equipment and tools.
• Basic understanding of welding design and theory.
• Proficiency in English is required, as are excellent written and spoken communication skills.

Experience from cable installation and/or offshore related engineering are considered beneficial.
