Postdoc position in experimental hematology to study normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology

Københavns Universitet (KU)

The Porse group at the Finsen Laboratory/BRIC at University of Copenhagen is seeking a highly motivated postdoc to work on hematopoietic stem cell biology.

Our research/The group
The Porse group (Finsen Laboratory/BRIC) has a diverse and stimulating environment and we focus our research on elucidating mechanisms governing normal and malignant haematopoiesis with special emphasis on the behaviour of hematopoietic stem cells (HSCs) during adult haematopoiesis and leukemic stem cells (LSCs) in acute myeloid leukaemia. To this end, we employ mouse models of human AML, mouse knockout lines of putative HSC/LSC regulators, primary patient material and a broad range of genome-wide approaches and single cell analyses incl. cutting edge single cell proteomics.

The Porse group is affiliated with the Finsen Laboratory at Rigshospitalet as well as with BRIC at the University of Copenhagen.

Project/The research project(s)
The successful candidate will join an international and interdisciplinary research group working on various aspects of normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology including associated diseases such as acute myeloid leukemia. The candidate(s) will use advanced CRISPR-Cas9 gene editing technologies in primary human and murine hematopoietic stem cells to functionally assess novel regulators of normal and malignant hematopoietic stem cell biology. These regulators were identified by advanced proteomics technologies and their expression patterns are to a large degree governed by non-transcriptional mechanisms. There will be a large degree of freedom for the candidate(s) to shape and drive the research projects forward.

Start: 1 April 2025 or soon thereafter

Duration: 3 years

  • Strong documented research experience and expertise in either single-cell technologies, experimental mouse work, biochemistry, advanced flow cytometry, genome-wide approaches (ChIP-seq, Chromatin Conformation Capture, etc), CRISPR technologies or functional haematopoiesis.
  • Candidates with combined experiences are particularly encouraged to apply.
  • Good organizational skills and a detail-oriented structured approach to work tasks.
  • Collaborative skills.
  • Excellent English skills written and spoken.
