Your role and responsibilities
At ABB, you can be sure you are helping to create a better world. Why not take the chance to do this while working in one of the most fascinating technology areas in modern industry – Robotics! ABB Robotics is a leading supplier of industrial robots and robot software, in addition to its equipment and complete application solutions. We’re found in 53 countries and have installed more than 500,000 robots, supported by the broadest service network and offering in the industry. An industrial robot system is a mechatronic system and an important feature is how accurate the robot can follow a planned path. The gearboxes in the robot influence this through the transmission accuracy. To increase the knowledge in this area a gearbox can be studied in a dedicated rig where the input and output position can be measured simultaneously. We are now offering an exciting master thesis within R&D where the influence of different parameters like, torque, speed, temperature and bending moment on transmission accuracy will be studied and modelled. Details: • January-June 2025 • 30 ECTS/högskolepoäng(hp) • 1-2 students • Most time on site in Västerås The focus of this thesis work will be to study transmission accuracy of a gearbox using a dedicated test rig. • Study the influence of different parameters on the transmission accuracy • Study possibilities to model the transmission accuracy to increase performance of robots • The scope includes both theoretical analysis and practical measurement work.
