Postdoc within Science and Technology Studies and the Energy Transition - DTU Management

Are you wanting to establish your career as an academic and have a background in Science & Technology Studies (STS)? Are you interested in conducting cutting-edge research on the public engagement within energy transitions? If yes, we have the job for you. In two excellence projects funded by the European Research Council (ERC) and Independent Research Fund Denmark (IFD) respectively, you will become part of a vibrant and growing STS environment at DTU’s Department of Technology, Management, and Economics.
If you wish to pursue your career as a social scientist within Science & Technology Studies (STS) we are looking to hire two post-doctoral researchers to realize the scholarly ambitions put forth in two excellence projects funded by an ERC Starting Grant and Independent Research Fund Denmark (IFD/DFF’s Sapere Aude program) on values and valuation in the energy transition. The successful candidates will engage with cutting-edge engineering science and will be breaking new ground within STS and energy futures research in a larger research team led by Julia Kirch Kirkegaard. You will be affiliated with the Section for Human-Centred Innovation

led by Tanja Schneider in the Division of Technology & Business Studies led by Brit Ross Winthereik in the Department of Technology, Management and Economics (DTU Management).

Responsibilities and qualifications
As a formal qualification, you must hold a PhD degree (or equivalent) within social science, preferably within STS. Empirical knowledge of energy transitions and theoretical knowledge of Valuation Studies, Sociology of Expertise and Sociology of Expectations within STS is an advantage. Responsibilities and responsibilities include, amongst other things,

  • Conducting ethnographic fieldwork (interviews, observations) in Denmark
    • Danish language proficiency (oral and written) is an advantage
  • Qualitative coding of interview data, hereunder discourse and document analysis, controversy mapping
  • Leading at least one academic publication
  • Co-production workshops
  • Interest in and preferably experience with interdisciplinary work.

Salary and terms of employment
The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed upon with the relevant union.

The period of employment is 1,5 - 2 years (18 and 24 months respectively).

The Department of Technology, Management and Economics (DTU Management) conducts excellent research in the intersection between management, technology and economics. We develop solutions in close cooperation with companies and public authorities. Our research aims at strengthening welfare, productivity and sustainability within the society.
