About the job
The global energy sector is changing rapidly, and one component that has become central to this transition is the power converter. At DEIF, we are developing state-of-the-art converter technologies in collaboration with leading partners like AVL and Wolfspeed. These converters are pivotal in applications such as marine industries, grid integration, energy storage and hybrid energy systems – all to support the phase-out of fossil fuels.
“In this role you will work hands-on to design, implement and test the control systems for power converters, ensuring they meet the highest standards for efficiency and reliability. With a focus on SiC technology and cutting-edge architectures such as interleaving topologies and dual active bridges, you’ll be at the forefront of innovation in converters ranging from 100 to 10000 kW” explains Department Manager - Jesper Thomsen.

Key Responsibilities & Working Tasks
- Developing and implementing control systems for power converters in energy management and propulsion applications.
- Conducting simulations and performance evaluations to refine control algorithms.
- Designing, implementing and testing advanced control algorithms for converters and associated systems.
- Collaborating with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration of control systems.
- Working with cross-functional teams to meet performance and reliability goals.
- Staying updated on the latest developments in converter control technologies and driving innovation within DEIF.
- Mentoring and providing technical guidance to junior engineers.
What Are We Looking For?
We need someone who thrives on problem-solving and has the hands-on experience to back it up.
You’ll have:
- A bachelor or a master degree in Electrical Energy Systems, Controls Engineering, Electrical Engineering or a related field
- Significant hands-on experience designing control systems for power converters or related applications.
- Proficiency in MATLAB/Simulink, programming languages like C/C++ and HVDL would be great to have.
- A collaborative mindset and a passion for developing tomorrow’s energy solutions!
