Your role and responsibilities
The Marine & Ports Division serves the shipping and ports industries through its extensive portfolio of integrated systems and solutions that improve the flexibility, reliability and energy efficiency of vessels and container terminals. By coupling power, propulsion, automation, marine software and services that ensure maximum vessel uptime, the Division is well positioned to help the marine industry to achieve its decarbonization targets while improving the profitability and sustainability of our customers’ business throughout the entire lifecycle of vessels. With ABB Ability™ Marine software solutions and ABB Ability™ Collaborative Operations Centers around the world, shipowners and operators can run their fleets at lower fuel and maintenance costs, while improving crew, passenger and cargo safety as well as overall productivity of their operations. Further, the Division delivers automation, electrical systems and digital solutions for container and bulk cargo handling, from ship to gate. These solutions help terminal operators meet the challenge of larger ships, taller cranes and bigger volumes per call, and make terminal operations safer, greener and more productive. Join our dynamic team at ABB Marine and Ports, where you will provide technical support for automation systems on vessels operating worldwide. Your role will involve advanced troubleshooting through ABB’s Remote Diagnostic System (RDS), supporting customers via telephone, email, remote connection, and on-site visits. You will also offer technical solutions and advisory functions internally within ABB Marine. Your Key Responsibilities: • Provide technical support for ABB Marine delivered control systems on vessels. • Perform advanced troubleshooting using ABB’s Remote Diagnostic System (RDS). • Support customers through various communication channels and on-site visits. • Offer technical solutions and advisory services internally. • Participate in process improvements related to collaborative operations, including technical upgrades, service bulletins, and root cause analysis. • Contribute to the development and enhancement of advanced services and solutions with R&D teams. • Engage in field service site work, including supported cases, planned maintenance, and on-call service worldwide. • Manage upgrades and retrofit projects for Marine customers. Qualifications for the role
- Bachelor’s degree or Technical College qualification.
- Experience with automation systems, preferably in the Marine segment.
- Fluency in both written and verbal English and Norwegian.
- Willingness and ability to travel as needed.
- Experience in electrical power and/or onboard ships is advantageous but not required.
- Familiarity with ship automation systems, such as power management or propulsion control systems, is beneficial.
