Field-based Sales Development Manager for Optical Spectrometer Products

At Ibsen, we specialize in high quality, industrial-grade spectrometers to top scientific, medical, industrial, and pharmaceutical instrument manufacturers worldwide. Our sales have quintupled since 2014, reaching 150 MDKK in 2023, and our team of 80 experts is headquartered near Copenhagen, Denmark. With ambitious plans for further growth, we’re looking for an International Sales Development Manager to help us achieve our vision.

The role of International Sales Development Manager
Reporting to our VP of Sales, you will play a key role in identifying and capturing sales opportunities, especially within North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific. Your focus will be on the initial phase of the sales cycle, securing new projects and driving early-stage development collaborations, which ultimately turn into recurring revenue.

You will receive extensive training at our offices in Denmark in order to become fully trained and build relationships with your colleagues in Sales and R&D. If you are not already located in one of our key markets, we expect you to relocate to a key market for a multiple year assignment.

Your Responsibilities
As International Sales Development Manager, you will:

  • Identify and secure new projects and key accounts, expanding our presence in target markets.
  • Drive growth within your designated region by nurturing existing relationships.
  • Collaborate with our teams to develop innovative solutions that meet customer needs.
  • Join our expanding sales team, counting a total of 8 employees and selected distributors.

You can expect approximately 80-100 travel days per year, since close contact to your customers is essential to success.

Your background and skills
Our ideal candidate combines a natural talent for sales with a strong technical understanding of optical systems from a background in sales and/or engineering. You get your energy from finding and closing new opportunities and expanding presence with established accounts.

You should also:

  • Possess a proactive and energetic personality with a strong desire to talk to new customers every day.
  • Demonstrate a strong ability to identify and communicate how our solutions add value customer applications.
  • Possess patience and perseverance to navigate long sales cycles and capitalize on narrow project windows.

We expect you to be fluent in written and spoken English or German. Additional languages are an advantage, while Danish is not a prerequisite.
