Centrica Energy is looking to expand our Cloud Platform team by adding a passionate and highly motivated Senior Cloud Platform Engineer to our team in Aalborg or Copenhagen

The team and the role

In the Cloud Platform team, our goal is to support our cloud transformation journey by building a common, state-of-the-art, cloud-based compute and storage platform catered to the use-cases of our teams consisting of around 80+ developers and data scientists.

We put a strong emphasis on developer experience, building abstractions at the right level, to reduce the cognitive load on our users. We strive to make sure our developers can focus on their products instead of the complex nuances of e.g. Kubernetes or AWS.

As a member of the team, you can expect to be maintaining and further developing the platform, which may include:

• Ensuring our infrastructure is running optimally
• Making infrastructure and applications more observable
• Automating tasks to eliminate toil
• Building tools for developer productivity
• Assisting developers with onboarding and usage of the platform in general
• Improving the security posture of the platform

This role can be based out of Aalborg or Copenhagen. If you are prefer to be based out of Copenhagen, frequent travel to Aalborg (approximately 3 days per month) is to be expected as the majority of the stakeholders are in Aalborg.

The tech

We run on AWS and our stack consists of a mix of managed cloud services (e.g EKS, RDS, MSK, MongoDB Atlas) and open source software that is spread among several Kubernetes clusters.

We are big fans of building our infrastructure declaratively, using GitOps and tools like Flux and Terraform and our observability is powered by Prometheus, Grafana and Humio.

We also build and maintain different software and tools ourselves, facilitating various functions such as application delivery to our Kubernetes environments, continuous integration and others. Exploring our code, you will find a mix of Go, C# and various scripting languages. We like to use the right tool for the job.

About you

• Your educational background is likely within Computer Science, and you have a passion for delivering high-quality software
• You like the idea of Platform Engineering, and having a focus on developer enablement
• You have solid experience with some part of our stack and practices, such as Kubernetes, GitOps and AWS
• You like to communicate with skilled specialists with competencies that complement your own, and you appreciate close collaboration with internal customers
• You are curious, driven and motivated by involving yourself in complicated challenges in a 24x7 environment consisting of a lot of exciting technologies and moving parts
• You have excellent English written and verbal skills and you are not afraid to speak your mind
