Are you ready to kickstart your career in Denmark's largest container terminal, with a network spanning over 60 countries?
As an IT/OT Onsite Engineer, you will play a central role in our supply chain and the heart of our entire operation.
“Trade moves ideas, drives businesses, and enables people to thrive across all corners of the globe. Here, you'll have the opportunity to build global relationships while developing your career,” says Claus Maagaard, IT Manager.
About Us….
In our container terminals, the work revolves around vessel operations and the facilities that provide direct support—such as warehouses, workshops, control towers and truck gates. You'll be based at our terminal in Aarhus, where, as the person responsible for 1st line support and physical IT infrastructure, you will be a vital technical resource keeping the terminal running smoothly.
This involves supporting and maintaining applications via phone, email, and monitoring, ensuring close contact with system users—especially our Operations department. Additionally, you will collaborate closely with Operations to address their challenges, needs, and ways we can improve.
An important aspect of your role will also be ensuring compliance with relevant security processes and tools. The position involves a variety of ad hoc tasks within the IT department, such as PC configuration and general IT support both indoor and outdoor.
“There may be support needed outside regular office hours, so flexibility is key. If the systems or infrastructure fail, the terminal halts. In other words, you play a crucial role in ensuring the heartbeat of APM Terminals Aarhus,” explains Claus Maagaard.
A Small Team in a Global IT Organization -
You will join Claus and two other colleagues in our Aarhus-based IT team while also being part of our Nordic IT team, which includes four colleagues at our terminal in Gothenburg, Sweden. The team is partly responsible for IT infrastructure and hardware and provides 1st line support to users. This setup fosters close collaboration with other teams and a strong, collegial atmosphere.
At our terminal, you'll have a local workplace, but your tasks and activities are international, forming part of the European region and Scandinavian APM Terminals group. This group is integrated into One Maersk IT—a unified global IT structure under the Maersk brand. Consequently, you will occasionally collaborate with IT colleagues at other terminals supporting and connecting our global network.
“We will, of course, train you, but you should be prepared to take responsibility quickly and work independently. This provides excellent opportunities in a global IT organization,” says Claus.
Ready to Dive Deep into Infrastructure?
In this role, you will contribute to building the foundation for business growth. Working in a small department requires drive, flexibility, and a desire to learn. Moreover, you value the opportunity to build a strong global network that you can rely on.
We imagine that you:
· Have a degree in computer science (e.g., datamatiker) and possibly a few years of experience. However, we encourage recent graduates to apply.
· Are eager to work with VMware, networking, and various industry-specific applications, such as our operations and gate systems.
· Are fluent in Danish and English, both written and spoken.
Maersk is committed to a diverse and inclusive workplace, and we embrace different styles of thinking.
