The Novo Nordisk Foundation Center for Stem Cell Medicine (reNEW) at Faculty of Health and Medical Sciences at the University of Copenhagen is looking for a post-doctoral researcher to join the Little group starting 15 April 2025 or upon agreement. You will be part of an interdisciplinary team involved in the generation and analysis of stem cell-derived kidney cells for regenerative medicine.

reNEW is an international consortium of three leading research institutions; the University of Copenhagen, Denmark, Murdoch Children’s Research Institute in Melbourne, Australia, and Leiden University Medical Center in Leiden, The Netherlands. The Mission of reNEW is to bring together research excellence to harness the therapeutic potential in stem cell medicine. For this, researchers within reNEW address fundamental questions in stem cell and developmental biology and aim to translate research findings to products that will help patients with incurable disorders such as congenital kidney disorders, chronic ulcerative disorders, neurological disorders, and diabetes.

Our research
In the group of Professor Melissa Little, we use our underlying knowledge of normal kidney development to direct the differentiation of human pluripotent stem cells to kidney organoids. These stem cell-derived tissues are used to better understand human development, model genetics forms of kidney disease and evaluate options for the treatment of end stage renal disease.

Job description
We are seeking an enthusiastic and outstanding post-doctoral researcher with a background in stem cell-derived organoid models and singe-cell sequencing technologies.

Key activities include:

  • Maintaining and differentiating human iPSC lines
  • Generation of kidney organoid
  • Single-cell sequencing (scRNA-seq, snRNA-seq, ATAC-seq)

Qualifications

  • You should have a PhD in stem cell technologies
  • Previous experience with stem cell-derived organoid models, kidney preferred
  • Experience with single-cell sequencing technologies and bioinformatics
  • A solution-oriented, organizational and positive mindset is required.
  • The ability to work in a highly collaborative international environment both independently and as part of the team is essential.
  • Fluency in English is essential.

Place of employment
The place of employment is at the ReNEW, University of Copenhagen. We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.

Terms of salary, work, and employment
The average weekly working hours are 37 hours per week.

The position is a fixed-term position limited to a period of 2 years. The starting date is 15 April 2025 or after agreement.

Salary, pension and other conditions of employment are set in accordance with the Agreement between the Ministry of Taxation and AC (Danish Confederation of Professional Associations) or other relevant organisation. Currently, the monthly salary starts at 38,500 DKK/approx. 4,800 EUR. Depending on qualifications, a supplement may be negotiated. The employer will pay an additional 17.1 % to your pension fund.

Foreign and Danish applicants may be eligible for tax reductions, if they hold a PhD degree and have not lived in Denmark the last 10 years.

The position is covered by the Job Structure for Academic Staff at Universities 2020.
