Jobbeskrivelse
The PhD stipend is part of the Novo Nordisk Foundation Challenge project“Evaluating Microbiome Based Applications for Risk Quantification(EMBARQ)”. Specifically, the PhD stipend will involve enriching the Microflora Danica metagenome dataset with external metagenome datasets to enable development of predictive models of microbial biogeography.
The PhD candidate will be part of the Albertsen lab with 15 researchers at various career levels with a high expertise within molecular methods development, bioinformatics and machine learning. Furthermore, the position will be anchored in the Center for Microbial Communities that has approx. 50 scientists working with structure and function of microbial communities, primarily related to environmental biotechnology. The Center has state of the art equipment within DNA sequencing, laboratory automation, CPU and GPU compute resources, proteomics, metabolomics and advanced microscopy.
Requirements:
- A master's degree in Biotechnology, Bioinformatics or a closely related field is an advantage.
- Hands-on experience with large-scale short and long-read metagenome analysis.
- Excellent oral and written English language skills are a requirement.
- The applicant must be interested in working in an interdisciplinary research environment.
