Job Summary:
The Agroecology Graduate Trainee will support the implementation of agroecology and Resilience Design practices, contributing to fieldwork, community engagement activities, and ensuring the quality and impact of agroecology initiatives. The Trainee will gain hands-on experience in sustainable agriculture and environmental conservation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Household Mobilization: With guidance from the supervisor participate in mobilizing agroecology and resilience design households for various agroecology activities.
- Training Support: Support in training agroecology and Resilience households on diverse agroecology practices and Resilience design principles.
- Field Monitoring: Support in conducting routine monitoring of agroecology and resilience households to ensure quality progress of activities, providing hands-on technical support as needed.
- Reporting: Produce timely activity reports and share them with the immediate supervisor following agreed reporting guidelines and timelines.
- Transparency and Accountability: Promote transparency and accountability to beneficiaries by applying the DanChurchAid (DCA) complaint and feedback mechanisms.
- Data Collection: Support data collection using the Tool for Agroecology performance and evaluation (TAPE) tool in collaboration with the monitoring and evaluation team.
- Technical Guidance: Offer technical guidance to Agroecology and Resilience design Farmer Coordinators and Community based Facilitators.
- Exchange Visits: Coordinate exchange and exposure visits among agroecology and Resilience design households.
- Market Information: Collect and disseminate market information to agroecology and Resilience design households.
- Provide technical support during the community dialogues and coordination meetings as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications, Skills, and Experience:
- Minimum of a University degree in agriculture, Environment, Forestry, or a related field (should have graduated only within the last 2 years).
- Excellent communication and people skills, with the ability to engage and build relationships with diverse stakeholders, including community leaders.
- Minimal experience in working with rural communities and building their capacities in sustainable practice is an added advantage.
- Proficiency in English is required. Knowledge of local languages is an added advantage.
- Familiarity with work in refugee settlements, and refugee host-communities is an added advantage.
