Funded traineeship for young graduates at the EU Delegation to Paraguay

Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in Paraguay?

We offer:
A traineeship of 6 months within the Cooperation Section of the EU Delegation to Paraguay, starting in May or June 2025.

The Cooperation section of the EU Delegation to Paraguay implements the EU Global Gateway strategy, which aims to boost the development of quality infrastructure in partner countries to create sustainable prosperity, jobs, and services for local communities, while strengthening connections between the EU and its partners. The strategy supports both the public and private sectors to invest in infrastructure with a focus on climate, green energy, sustainable transport, digitalisation, health, education and research. Key areas in Paraguay include sustainable forestry, renewable energies and green hydrogen, sustainable logistics and transport, and digitalisation. The section facilitates, supports and manages bilateral cooperation projects, regional programmes, as well as dedicated GG projects. Main tasks:

  • Contribute to the Cooperation section activities, especially in the areas linked with the specific competences of the trainee.
  • Support strategic communication activities with an objective to change the paradigm EU is perceived from donor-recipient narrative to one of partnership between peoples, with a focus not on aid, but on joint investment in a shared future.
  • Assist in the implementation of the EU-Paraguay investment forum with an objective to facilitate successful match-making between public, private and financing actors in the frame of Global Gateway investment agenda.
  • Contribute to the design and implementation of an event to support creating productive alliances and positive visibility for education and research as part of Global Gateway strategy.
  • Assist in developing and drafting media releases, articles, and social media content.

We look for:
Qualifications or special requirements:

  • Background or demonstrated interest in the fields of area of international relations, international cooperation, or communications and event organisation;
  • Knowledge of the most common social media tools;
  • Ability to work in a multicultural environment;
  • Very good organisational, writing and communication skills;
  • Excellent team spirit;
  • Very good command of written and spoken Spanish;
  • Very good command of written and spoken English.

Important information to read before applying
Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
Citizens from EU Member states:

  • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
  • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
