Københavns Universitet
PhD fellowship in Experimental Quantum Optics
The Niels Bohr Institute
Faculty of SCIENCE
University of Copenhagen
The Niels Bohr Institute invites applicants for a PhD fellowship in Experimental Quantum Optics.
Start date is (expected to be) 1 November 2026 or as soon as possible thereafter.
The project
The project will be part of the center for Hybrid Quantum Networks. The present projects will be within experimental quantum optics and concerns the development of spin-photon interfaces for high-fidelity entanglement generation and proof-of-concept demonstrations of entanglement fusion.
Who are we looking for?
We are looking for candidates within the field of quantum physics or related areas. Applicants can have any background within quantum physics but it is a particular advantage to have experience in quantum optics, quantum information and/or optomechanics.
Our group and research- and what do we offer?
The PhD projects will be part of the Quantum Photonics Group, which is headed by Professor Peter Lodahl and currently consists of 4 Post Docs and seven Ph.D. students. The group is part of the Center for Hybrid Quantum Network and the Quantum Optics section, which consists of more than 40 researchers. The center and the section provides a very strong research environment with leading international research groups within quantum optics.
The group and center are part of the Quantum Optics Section, the Niels Bohr Institute, Faculty of SCIENCE, University of Copenhagen. We are located in Copenhagen.
We offer creative and stimulating working conditions in dynamic and international research environment.
Principal supervisor areProf. Anders Søndberg Sørensen, The Niels Bohr Institute, [email protected] or Prof. Peter Lodahl, The Niels Bohr Institute, [email protected].
