Pre-qualification proposals for the 2025 call “PhD education outside the universities” (DFF – The Danish Independent Research Fund)

The Royal Danish Academy hereby invites pre-qualification proposals for the 2025 call “PhD education outside the universities” (DFF – The Danish Independent Research Fund).
The 2025-call will be announced by DFF in June. We expect to be allowed to support up to three proposals. Only proposals for academic research within architecture, design or conservation will be taken into consideration.

The deadline for pre-qualification applications is May 15 2025 at noon.

Selected applicants are expected to engage in collaboration with a supervisor and the administration of the Royal Danish Academy when preparing the full proposal for DFF.

Except for an online information meeting on April 22 (see process plan below), no supervision is offered for the pre-qualification proposal.

Formal requirements
In order to be taken into consideration the following elements must be included in a pre-qualification application:

• 2 pagesproject outline. The project outline must provide a brief introduction to the research topic, an academic research question, outline of theoretical framework and research methodology including brief outline of the anticipated research design.
  • Project outlines exceeding two pages will not be taken into consideration.
• A statement on which discipline (architecture, design or conservation) the proposal targets and, if applicable, which host institute/supervisor has been contacted in conjunction with the proposal outline.
• Literature list (no limit)
• 1 page time plan for the 3-year PhD project.
• CV incl. own publications if applicable.
• Copy of educational diploma documenting master level education including full exam result transcript.

Application material must be uploaded online. To apply please follow the “Apply for position” button in the advertisement. The 2 page project outline replaces the “cover letter” in the application system.”

Deadline
May 15 2025 at noon.

Proposals sent after the deadline will not be taken into consideration.

April:

May:

• May 15, 2025 at noon: deadline, pre-qualification applications.

June:

• DFF expected to announce call.
• The PhD Committee decides on which (up to) three proposals should be invited for full applications.

September:

• DFF deadline, final proposal.
