Are you a young graduate interested in international relations? Are you curious to learn more about work of a diplomatic mission and how the EU Delegation represents EU interests and values in India?

We offer:
A traineeship of up to 6 months within the Cooperation (COOP) Section of the EU Delegation to India and Bhutan, starting in June 2025.

The Cooperation section of the Delegation is in charge of identifying, formulating and monitoring the implementation of the cooperation projects and programmes funded by the budget of the European Union and since 2021 the Global Europe – Neighbourhood Development and International Cooperation Instrument (NDICI). These actions are implemented in India, Bhutan and for some of them across South Asia. The section’s Team is also in charge of guiding policy dialogue work with stakeholders, including governments, civil society organisations (including NGOs) as well as the private sector and other development partners. EU-funded projects are implemented by a wide range of partners, from European agencies and financial institutions, International Organisations, NGOs, government agencies or consulting companies. The section, led by the head of cooperation, consists of a multi-cultural Team of 12 European and Indians colleagues.

Main tasks:

  • Contribute to the implementation and monitoring of the Strategic Communication INTPA project.
  • Contribute to the preparation, implementation and monitoring of Global Gateway related strategic communication Campaigns.
  • Develop/monitor communication activities undertaken under the Global Gateway flagship projects.
  • Assist with social media and communication content.
  • Assist in website updates related to INTPA/Development.
  • Identify projects based on project documents and make recommendations on how visibility can be improved.
  • Support the communication and visibility initiatives undertaken by the Cooperation section, including identifying avenues of improvement, supporting in visibility related project management, monitoring and evaluation.
  • Coordinate on visibility for international days.

We look for:

Qualifications or special requirements:

    • Taking into account the local health and security conditions, applicants currently residing in India or in the nearby areas of Delhi will only be considered.
    • Bachelor or Master Level education in a relevant field such as International Relations, Development, Political Science and/or Communications
    • Experience in strategic communication, information dissemination and/or visibility
    • Experience in external communication, social media and/or advocacy
    • Excellent writing and communication skills
    • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and to manage multiple tasks
    • Good team spirit and ability to work with diverse profiles
    • Familiarity with the project cycle management
    • Fluency in English is required
    • Hindi is an asset

    Important information to read before applying
    Before applying you are requested to examine the dedicated website as well as the general eligibility criteria for a paid traineeship (Article 8 of the Decision ADMIN(2017)28 – Paid traineeship).

    Each selected trainee will receive a monthly grant to cover living expenses. All costs related to travels, visa, insurance, accommodation must be borne by the trainee.

    Applications from non-eligible candidates will not be considered. After the evaluation of all applications, shortlisted candidates will be contacted and invited for an interview. Unsuccessful candidates will be notified by email. In case the selected candidates are not able to present the required documents, their application will be rejected.

    The traineeships can only be offered in compliance with the local legislation as well as the legislation of the country of origin.
    Citizens from EU Member states:

    • must provide proof that they will be covered against the risk of a pandemic and the costs of repatriation;
    • must hold a relevant entrance visa and / or temporary residence permit where applicable, based on the traineeship agreement, the duration of the traineeship, and in compliance with the local legislation.
