VMware Operations Engineer

We are seeking a proactive and skilled VMware Operations Engineer to join our infrastructure team at Sentia (Aeven Group company) in Prague.
In this role, you'll be responsible for the daily administration, maintenance, and support of our virtualized environment. You will work with our team to ensure the performance, reliability, and security of our VMware infrastructure, including vSphere, vCenter, and related technologies.
This is a key position for someone passionate about virtualization and building robust, scalable systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Platform Management: Administer, monitor, and maintain our VMware vSphere and vCenter environments.
- Virtual Machine Operations: Deploy, configure, and manage virtual machines and templates.
- Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex issues related to virtual machine performance, host connectivity, and storage.
- Patching & Upgrades: Perform regular patching and upgrades of ESXi hosts and vCenter servers to ensure security and stability.
- Automation: Develop and implement automation scripts using PowerShell (PowerCLI) or other scripting languages to streamline operations.
- Capacity Planning: Monitor resource utilization and perform capacity planning to ensure our virtual infrastructure can meet future demands.
- Backup & Recovery: Manage and test backup and disaster recovery processes for virtualized systems.
Qualifications
Required Skills:
- Strong hands-on experience with VMware vSphere and vCenter.
- Familiarity with virtualization concepts, including ESXi hosts, clusters, and vMotion.
- Experience with scripting and automation, preferably with PowerShell (PowerCLI).
- Solid understanding of storage (SAN/NAS) and networking principles in a virtualized environment.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have):
- Experience with other VMware products like NSX, vSAN, or Horizon.
- Knowledge of cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, or GCP.
- Familiarity with containerization technologies like Docker or Kubernetes.
- Relevant certifications, such as VMware Certified Professional (VCP)
