I worked for a youth and education charity called City Year UK. My roles and responsibilities included:
• Account executive for a school partnership.
• Understand the school’s needs and objectives and liaise closely with staff. Anticipate and identify opportunities to implement initiatives that meet the objectives of the school partnership agreement.
• Negotiate with the school about contract renewal.
• Monitor, evaluate and report on the effectiveness of the team’s impact in a timely manner. Ensure that projects are completed to a high standard, on time and on budget.
• Leadership, appraisal and development of a team of 6 full-time volunteers.

• Led a team of 7 full-time volunteers in a secondary school who acted as mentors and role models for students from disadvantaged backgrounds.
• Managed the relationship between City Year, the team and the school’s Senior Management Team on a day-to-day basis.
• Collected and analysed data on our students and interventions using various systems.
• Coached the team to develop them personally and professionally.
• Helped to facilitate City Year’s intensive Training and Careers programme.
• Furthered the engagement between Deutsche Bank and the school, including setting up a pilot 1:1 reading scheme.
• Set up and managed a School Exchange programme.

• Full-time volunteer in an inner-city primary school working as a mentor.
• Organised and led a Community Action Day in school involving Aramark volunteers.
• Led phonics and reading interventions for KS1 and KS2 students.
• Planned and delivered successful clubs including Starfish, Maths, Chess and Drama.
• Gained leadership and presentation skills from City Year’s training programme.
• Delivered a Model UN session to fellow corps members.
