Join the Mads Clausen Institute at the University of Southern Denmark in Sønderborg. As an automation engineer you will be working closely with the lab managers to support the different units in house in various tasks. The Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics and Thin-film Energy Devices does research and development within new types of organic and thin-film solar cells from small devices up to roll-to-roll manufacturing. The NanoSYD department focuses on basic and applied research in sensors, nanophotonics, nanoplasmonics, microfluidics, new transistor technologies and much more. The departments are supported by the Centre for Materials Analysis and Characterization that apart of being the center consultancy and assistance for industry and academia to analyze and characterize materials and devices, provides support in terms of troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of the facilities to assure research never stops.
What you’ll do:
- Support two departments in engineering tasks
- Maintenance and support of vacuum systems
- Support in the upgrade and maintenance of laboratories and infrastructure
- Design and fabricate parts for systems such as evaporators, slot die coater, sample holders etc.
- Be part of the unit supporting the cleanroom infrastructure
Your profile:
- Msc in Mechatronics, Automation, Mechanical engineering or relevant field.
- Good knowledge of automation and mechanical/electrical drawings
- Experience with CAD design software such as NX
- Experience with lab work or be willing to learn
- Experience with cleanroom environment and vacuum systems is a plus
- Ability to collaborate closely with the team and perform the tasks in time
- Languages: English (professional level) / Danish is a plus

Employment period is for one year, starting April 1, 2025, with the possibility of extension.

Employment shall take place in accordance with the framework agreement between the Ministry of Finance and AC (the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations).
